Pattern Signs Power-Purchase Deals for Wind and Solar Farms

Sept. 30 (Bloomberg) — Pattern Energy Group LP, the

closely held developer associated with Pattern Energy Group

Inc., has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement for a wind

farm in Ontario.

The 100-megawatt Belle River project is the fifth Pattern

Energy is building in Ontario with Samsung Electronics Co.’s

renewables unit, the San Francisco-based developer said today in

a statement. Samsung is planning to invest about $5 billion in

clean energy in the province.

The Ontario Power Authority has agreed to buy output from

Belle River, enough to power about 35,000 homes, according to

the statement.

Pattern today also signed a 22-year power-purchase

agreement for a solar farm in Chile. Minera Los Pelambres, an

affiliate of Antofagasta Plc, will buy about 70 percent of the

power generated by the 104-megawatt Conejo project, which is

being built in the Atacama Desert.

Pattern Energy is the third-largest shareholder in Pattern

Energy Group Inc., according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Pattern Energy Group Inc. acquires projects from third parties

and from its affiliate, according to its website.
