PowerSecure Wins $35 Million Orders for Data Centers, Hospitals

(Bloomberg) — PowerSecure International Inc., a U.S.
provider of energy-efficiency technology, landed $35 million in
orders from customers including hospitals.

PowerSecure is receiving $20 million for an energy-storage
system linked to a microgrid, $10 million for a data-center
project and about $5 million from hospitals, the Wake Forest,
North Carolina-based company said Wednesday in a statement.

Microgrids and power storage “are at the forefront of
breakthrough energy technology that enables the effective
utilization of renewable energy resources,” PowerSecure Chief
Executive Officer Sidney Hinton said in the statement.

Energy storage in the U.S. this year is expected to more
than triple, according to GTM Research. About 220 megawatts of
capacity will be installed, compared with 62 megawatts last year
and 44 megawatts in 2013. That figure may reach 861 megawatts by
2019 as more renewable energy is added to the grid.
