Feb. 1 (Bloomberg) — Sharp Corp. posted a 1.9 billion yen ($21 million) operating loss at its solar cell and module business even as demand grew in Japan after the government started an incentive program for clean energy in July.
The statement for the three months ended Dec. 31 is the eighth quarterly loss for the company’s solar business.
Sharp will cut costs by reducing manufacturing of thin-film solar panels in Japan, the company said in the statement.
