Sept. 29 (Bloomberg) — Public Service Enterprise Group
Inc., owner of New Jersey’s largest utility, plans to spend $247
million through 2016 developing 45 megawatts of capacity over
landfills and on unused commercial property.
The company’s Public Service Electric and Gas unit, which
has 80 megawatts of solar power in service, is adding projects
through its “Solar 4 All” program, designed to to put 125
megawatts into service, Fran Sullivan, a PSEG spokesman, said
today in an interview. The program was approved in 2009.
About 42 megawatts of the new capacity will be built over
landfills or on unused industrial or commercial development.
Construction on the 10-megawatt Parklands Landfill project began
last week. The remaining 3 megawatts will include projects
linked to technologies such as grid storage.
The first 80 megawatts installed under the program included
ground-mounted systems as well as panels on rooftops and utility
poles at a cost of about $480 million.
