Sept. 25 (Bloomberg) — ContourGlobal LLC, the company led
by a former AES Corp. executive, became the largest generator of
wind power in Peru as two of its projects began operating last
month.
With a combined installed capacity of 114 megawatts, the
Cupisnique and the Talara projects are the largest South
American wind farms outside of Brazil, New York-based
ContourGlobal said in a statement yesterday.
The projects cost a total of $250 million and sell their
power under 20-year agreements. The 62 turbines along the
Pacific Coast were supplied by Vestas Wind Systems A/S.
Joseph C. Brandt, chief executive officer of ContourGlobal,
is a former chief operating officer for AES.
