Oct. 23 (Bloomberg) — Alstom SA agreed to supply eight
wind turbines to Enerplan Geracao de Energia Eletrica, the
power-generation arm of Brazilian biodiesel producer Oleoplan
SA, for 26 million euros ($33 million).
The turbines will be installed in Enerplan’s 21.6-megawatt
Pontal 2A wind park, in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul,
the French power-equipment maker said today in an e-mailed
statement. In September 2013, Alstom won a contract to supply
Enerplan with 10 turbines for a 27-megawatt park in the same
complex.
With three wind parks, the Pontal complex is scheduled to
be complete in 2016 and will have a total installed capacity of
60 megawatts, Enerplan’s director of renewable energy Rogerio
Augusto de Wallao said by telephone today. The complex will
require a total investment of 270 million reais ($108 million),
60 percent of which will be financed by Brazil’s development
bank, known as BNDES, and a regional funding agency known as
Badesul.
“The complex has a total potential of 300 megawatts, so it
has room to grow,” said Wallao. “Oleoplan traditionally
produces biodiesel and wants to diversify its business with
renewable energy.”
Alstom has a 13 percent share of the wind turbine market in
Brazil, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance. Oleoplan had
a revenue of 1.7 billion reais in 2013.
