Nov. 5 (Bloomberg) — Abengoa SA, a Spanish energy and
environment company, won a contract to build one of Europe’s
largest biomass projects for the utility Belgian Eco Energy NV.
The 215-megawatt combined heat and power plant in Ghent
will cost at least 315 million euros ($393 million) to develop,
Seville-based Abengoa said today in an e-mailed statement. The
facility will use wood chips and agricultural residue as
feedstocks, it said.
Abengoa, whose works include power lines, water plants and
solar projects, has biomass plants in Europe, Latin America and
the U.S. Last month, the company opened its first facility that
makes biofuel from crop waste, a $500 million plant in Kansas.
