Kyocera Venture to Build 13.4 MW Floating Solar Plant in Japan

(Bloomberg) — Kyocera Corp. and Century Tokyo Leasing
Corp.
will build a 13.4-megawatt floating solar power plant near
Tokyo.

The station, to be built on a reservoir in Chiba
prefecture, will be the world’s largest floating solar
installation, the companies said in a statement today.

The plant will begin operating in March 2016, according to
the statement. The companies are also building 1.7-megawatt and
1.2-megawatt floating solar stations on reservoirs in Hyogo,
western Japan.

Kyocera, a Japanese solar panel maker, and financing
company Century Tokyo set up a venture in August 2012 to develop
solar projects.
