(Bloomberg) — Enel Green Power SpA, a unit of Italy’s
largest utility, started building a 28-megawatt wind park in
Brazil.
The Esperanca project will complete Enel’s Serra Azul wind
complex, in the northeastern state of Bahia, the Rome-based
company said in a statement on Monday.
Serra Azul will have a total capacity of 118 megawatts,
enough to power 320,000 households, and is planned to start
operating at the end of 2015.
Enel is investing about $220 million in Serra Azul. The
project is being financed by the International Finance
Corporation and Itau Unibanco SA.
The energy generated by the wind complex will be sold
through power supply contracts mainly on the regulated market,
Enel said.
