(Bloomberg) — SunEdison Inc., the best-performing U.S.
solar company, completed two power plants in eastern Ontario
with a total of 35.7 megawatts of capacity.
The company connected to the grid the 17.8-megawatt Solar
Spirit project, owned by BluEarth Renewables Inc., and the 17.9-megawatt Bruining project, owned by Firelight Infrastructure
Partners LP, Maryland Heights, Missouri-based SunEdison said
Tuesday in a statement.
SunEdison has now installed more than 250 megawatts of
solar panels in Canada. The projects’ owners will sell the power
to Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator under a 20-year contract.
The company expects to complete solar and wind projects
with 2,100 to 2,300 megawatts of capacity this year.
Installations are expected to rise next year to 2,800 to 3,800
megawatts.
SunEdison was the best performing U.S. solar company on the
Bloomberg Intelligence Global Large Solar Energy Index of 21
companies in the last year.
