(Bloomberg) — Iberdrola SA, Spain’s largest utility, is
seeking to provide electricity to Vermont’s largest utility from
a 30-megawatt wind farm.
The company’s U.S. clean-energy unit submitted the 25-year
contract with Green Mountain Power for approval from the state’s
Public Service Board, according to an e-mailed statement
Thursday from Portland, Oregon-based Iberdrola Renewables.
Iberdrola Renewables is developing the Deerfield wind farm
in southern Vermont. It will produce enough energy for about
14,000 homes.
The board has 90 days to make a decision, Paul Copleman, an
Iberdrola spokesman, said by telephone.
“We’re very confident that this is a good project and it
meets the conditions that the public service board has laid
out,” he said.
