Kyushu Electric Clinches Final Local Approval for Restart

Yoichiro Ito, governor of Kagoshima prefecture, today gave his consent to the restart of the two reactors, according to a statement from the prefecture. The decision followed a vote last month to permit the units’ resumption by officials in Satsumasendai city, the community closest to the reactors.

Abengoa Wins Order for $393 Million Belgian Biomass Plant

The 215-megawatt combined heat and power plant in Ghent will cost at least 315 million euros ($393 million) to develop, Seville-based Abengoa said today in an e-mailed statement. The facility will use wood chips and agricultural residue as feedstocks, it said.
