(Bloomberg) — SunPower Corp., the second-largest U.S.
solar manufacturer, agreed to invest $20 million in Tendril
Networks Inc. and will license its energy-management software.
The technology will help San Jose, California-based
SunPower monitor customers’ power consumption habits, according
to a statement today.
Tendril, based in Boulder, Colorado, was one of 10
companies recognized for their efforts to promote clean energy
by Bloomberg New Energy Finance at its 2012 annual conference.
The London-based research company estimates that U.S. solar
demand next year may exceed 8.9 gigawatts, the world’s third-largest market. First Solar Inc. is the largest U.S. solar
manufacturer.
