(Bloomberg) — Power from low-carbon sources such as the
sun and wind rose 24 percent in the U.K. in the third quarter
from a year earlier, according to government statistics.
Renewables’ share of electricity generation reached 17.8
percent in the quarter, compared with 13.6 percent in the same
period last year, according to statistics released today by the
U.K. Department of Energy and Climate Change.
Generation from bioenergy increased as much as 31 percent
and solar power surged 79 percent. Offshore wind power rose 14.1
percent and onshore 7.7 percent, the statistics show.
