Borrego Solar Systems CEO Sees Installations Doubling This Year

Closely held Borrego Solar, based in San Diego, installed 51.2 megawatts last year, a 40 percent increase from 2013. It should surpass 100 megawatts this year, Chief Executive Officer Mike Hall said in a phone interview.

Dominion to Invest $700 Million for 400 Megawatts of Solar Power

Dominion’s Virginia Power unit expects the projects to begin generating electricity by 2020, the Richmond, Virginia-based company said Thursday in a statement. The solar farms will produce enough energy for about 100,000 homes.

Marubeni Picked to Build Two Offshore Wind Projects in Japan

Principal Solar to Sell Power to Duke From 78.5-Megawatt Project

The $173 million solar farm in Hope Mills is expected to begin generating power early next year, Dallas-based Principal Solar said in a statement Wednesday. The company is buying the project’s development rights from closely held Innovative Solar Systems LLC in a deal that’s set to close by June 3.

Abengoa, EIG to Invest $2.5 Billion in New Joint Venture

The Spanish developer and the U.S. infrastructure investor will set up Abengoa Projects Warehouse 1 in four to six weeks, the Seville-based company said today. EIG will hold an initial 55 percent of the venture and Abengoa 45 percent through their equity investments. The rest of the investment will come from so-called non-recourse debt.

Sharp Sells Recurrent to Canadian Solar for $265 Million

Sharp paid $305 million for San Francisco-based solar-development unit Recurrent Energy LLC in 2010 and had been looking for a buyer since at least September. The sale will be completed in March, Sharp said in a statement today as it also forecast an annual loss of 30 billion yen ($257 million).
