British Royalty Visits London Sewers to Mark Anniversary

The heir to the British crown visited the newly completed Lee Tunnel and Abbey Mills pumping station, which Charles’s great-great-grandfather King Edward VII opened in 1865. The Lee Tunnel, a 635 million-pound ($980 million) extension to London’s sewer system, is expected to start funneling effluent by December, Thames Water Utilities Ltd. said.

U.K. Green Bank Investing in Community Clean-Energy Projects

The funds, with 50 million pounds from the GIB, are being invested through Albion Community Power Plc, which builds and operates community-scale projects, the Edinburgh-based bank said in an e-mailed statement. Albion plans to attract 40 million pounds more from investors.

Bluefield Solar Buying U.K. Sun-Power Farms for $83 Million

The fund has entered agreements to buy a 6.5-megawatt facility in Somerset, a 12.5-megawatt facility in Wiltshire and a 29-megawatt plant in Oxfordshire, it said in an e-mailed statement. Bluefield is funding the acquisitions with part of the 131 million pounds it raised in November, it said.

Southern Co. Court Loss Is Clean Coal’s Second Setback in Month

The Mississippi Supreme Court on Thursday ordered refunds to customers of about $250 million and told regulators to must reconsider how to pay for the $6.2 billion project, the most expensive coal plant in history. The Kemper County project -- the first commercial-scale plant to capture carbon dioxide and bury it underground -- is seen as a showcase for supporters of the technology, including the Obama administration.

Bolivia Hires Deea Solutions to Study 20-Megawatt Solar Plant
