JinkoSolar Supplies 80 Megawatts for Project in Henan Province

The panels are being deployed on rooftops of agricultural greenhouses in Neihuang County, Shangrao, China-based JinkoSolar said today in a statement. They are expected to be connected to the grid by the end of the year. Terms weren’t disclosed.

Drax Shares Plunge After U.K. Government Proposes Subsidy Change

The U.K. today said it’s considering removing the so-called “grandfathering” of subsidies paid to generators such as Drax that are converting to burn biomass. That means the premium payments they receive for their electricity won’t be guaranteed for the lifetime of the project.

Sumitomo Wins Contract for Indonesian Geothermal Power Project

The Tokyo-based company and PT Rekayasa Industri will work together to add the two units at Lahendong station, Sumitomo said in a statement today. Each unit will have 20 megawatts in capacity.

Genera Gets $4 Million From WindSail to Expand Biomass Operation

Genera, based in Vonore, Tennessee, produces biomass made from crops including switchgrass for more than 20 customers in eight states, Chief Executive Officer Kelly Tiller said today. The investment from Boston-based WindSail will help the company grow crops in new regions for additional customers.

KKR and Suez Form JV for Pennsylvania Water Services

KKR and United Water are paying $43 million to the Middletown Borough Authority and have committed an additional $83 million for infrastructure upgrades over the life of the 50-year contract, according to a statement today. Middletown will use the funds to eliminate existing debts and liabilities, including pensions, and will retain ownership of the systems.

Seeo Gets $17 Million Venture Round for Batteries Led by Samsung

Seeo will use the funding from Samsung Ventures to continue to develop its lightweight lithium-polymer battery technology, the Hayward, California-based company said in an e-mailed statement today. Existing investors Khosla Venture and GSR Ventures also joined in the funding.

Developers added 1,354 megawatts, the second-highest quarterly total ever, the Washington-based industry group said today in a report produced with GTM Research. A total of 16.1 gigawatts of photovoltaic systems are in operation in the U.S.
