Jim Rogers, former Chairman, President and CEO of Duke Energy, speaks at Bloomberg L.P. in London about off-grid energy. Rogers told the audience: “there are more people off the grid today, than when Edison turned on the light bulb… The challenge is great. The capital required is huge. IEA says that it would take between $65 and $85 billion to make this happen, to spend that amount, every year between now and 2030 for everyone to have access to electricity. And they believe that about 55% of the new generation will be renewables.”
Global Off-Grid Lighting Association or GOGLA arranged the all-day conference, hosted by Bloomberg New Energy Finance.
