U.K. to End Small-Scale Renewables Aid in Blow to Solar

Ministers plan to cut subsidies by as much as 87 percent from January and cap the budget for assistance, ending the program for new entrants after March 2019, according to the proposals outlined Thursday on the Department of Energy and Climate Change website. If it isn’t possible to rein in spending, the program of guaranteed electricity prices, known as feed-in tariffs, may close in January, it said.

India to Hold Bidding for 750 Megawatts of Solar Projects

“Tenders for setting up 500 megawatts of capacity in Maharashtra and 250 megawatts in Gujarat’s Charanka solar park will be out this week and awarded in three months,” Ashvini Kumar, managing director at Solar Energy Corp. of India, the implementing agency for central government’s grid-connected solar programs, said Tuesday in an interview.

Aquila Expands in U.K. Solar With Second Acquisition This Year

The 9.8-megawatt facility in Sheffield, northern England, was developed by Blue Planet Solar Holdings Ltd. and Pfalzsolar GmbH, Aquila said Monday, without disclosing terms. The plant has been working since March.

Sojitz Invests in T-Solar’s 2 Solar Power Stations in Peru

Sojitz has acquired a 49 percent stake in each plant, the Tokyo-based trading company said in a statement Monday. Each station is 22 megawatts in capacity. No financial terms were disclosed.

Capital Stage Buys Solar Park in Germany to Boost Capacity

The company will pay 17 million euros ($19 million) to GP Joule GmbH for two projects, adding 14 megawatts of capacity, it said Friday in a statement. One 8-megawatt park is already connected to the grid and the 6-megawatt facility is expected to be operational next month.
