Gamesa to Double Profit Helped by New Turbine for U.S., Europe

The 3.3-megawatt turbine will help Gamesa grow in markets like the U.S. and Europe where it previously struggled, Xabier Etxeberria, executive director-general, said on a conference call Tuesday. That will help in the goal of raising earnings before interest and taxes to 362 million euros ($406 million) the year after next, from about 180 million euros in 2014.

Yingli Negotiating to Sell 50-Megawatt Solar Project in China

The solar farm is connected to the grid and the sale is expected to be complete in the second half of this year, Baoding, China-based Yingli said in a statement Monday. China General Nuclear Power Group provided a 10-year loan of 300 million yuan ($48 million) to help build the project, which will offset about 50,000 tons of carbon emissions annually.

RET Capital didn’t provide terms for the non-recourse debt facility in a statement Thursday. It agreed to buy the CityLights solar farm in Chesterville in April, the San Francisco-based company’s third acquisition of a solar farm developed by Canadian Solar.

BlackRock-Backed REG Buys Turbines, Doubles U.K. Capacity

Spain’s biggest wind-turbine manufacturer will install 19 turbines at sites from south Wales and the Midlands to northern U.K. for a combined capacity of 38 megawatts, REG said Wednesday in an e-mail. The facilities, costing 48 million pounds ($74 million), are expected to start working within 18 months and will raise the developer’s onshore wind capacity in the U.K. to 73 megawatts.

Toshiba Mitsubishi Doubles Solar Capacity on Asia, U.S. Demand

Production of inverters, which allow solar power to be fed into grids, will begin at a factory in Texas in late July and at a plant in Yancheng, China, as early as October, said Hidehiko Kikuchi, head of the power electronics systems division at Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corp. TMEIC has been making inverters at three plants in Tokyo, Shanghai and India.
