SunEdison Buying Solar Grid Storage to Combine With Renewables

Solar Grid has four projects in operation and is developing at least three more this year, said Tom Leyden, the company’s chief executive officer who will become SunEdison’s vice president of energy-storage deployment. The company uses lithium-ion batteries in its systems, which can support projects as large as 10 megawatts.

Solar3D may seek additional capital for deals as soon as next year, depending on the size of its 2015 acquisitions, Chief Executive Officer Jim Nelson said Wednesday in an interview at Bloomberg News headquarters in New York. Eurus Energy Completes Two Solar Power Plants in Northern Japan

A 14-megawatt plant in Miyagi prefecture uses panels supplied by Canadian Solar Inc., the Tokyo-based company said in a statement Wednesday. The other plant with 8 megawatts of capacity was built in Fukushima prefecture using panels made by Kyocera Corp.
