SolarCity Lawsuit Alleges Arizona Utility’s Fee Hurts Solar

AES Buys Distributed-Generation Solar Company Main Street Power

The all-cash deal gives AES about 60 megawatts of solar capacity across the U.S. and another 100 megawatts under development in the U.S., Caribbean and Latin America, AES said today in a statement. Main Street Power, based in Boulder, Colorado, has been renamed AES Distributed Energy and will retain its existing leadership. Terms weren’t disclosed.

SoftBank, Mitsui Complete 20MW Solar Power Plant in South Japan

The plant in Fukuoka prefecture will produce enough power for 5,570 homes, the SoftBank unit, SB Energy Corp., said in an e-mailed statement Tuesday.

Rame Energy to Build 130 Megawatts of Renewable Energy in Chile

Conergy Sees 450 Megawatts of Solar Installs in 2015, CEO Says

The Hamburg-based company, which develops rooftop and ground-mounted systems in more than a dozen countries, installed about 300 megawatts last year, Chief Executive Officer Andrew de Pass said Monday in a telephone interview. That generated revenue of more than half a billion dollars and helped the company turn a profit.

The companies plan to build projects of no more than 5 megawatts each in South Wales, South East Midlands and Northern England, according to a statement Monday from Shanghai-based SPI. Financial terms of the arrangement weren’t disclosed.

SunEdison Sees Installations Doubling as Solar Grows

The company intends to complete solar and wind power facilities with 2,100 to 2,300 megawatts of capacity during 2015, according to a presentation Tuesday. Last year it completed 1,048 megawatts of solar farms, compared with a forecast of 1,000 to 1,100 megawatts.

Japan Panel Proposes Solar Tariff Cut of as Much as 16% on Costs

The tariff for applications approved between April 1 and June 30 could be cut to 29 yen per kilowatt hour from the current rate of 32 yen under a proposal presented today by a panel in charge of reviewing the country’s renewable-energy incentives. The tariff would be cut again to 27 yen per kilowatt hour beginning in July, the panel recommended.
