Obama Proposes Expanding China Solar-Cell Levy to New Suppliers

The plan calls for the U.S. Commerce Department to impose tariffs on all solar panels assembled in China, regardless of the source of their component cells. Currently, $1.5 billion worth of panels with cells made in China are subject to a duty, and many companies shifted production of the cells to other nations in response.

Renova Receives $268 Million Loan From Brazil Development Bank

Capital Power Buys Element Power to Add U.S. Wind, Solar Sites

Capital Power agreed to pay $69 million, including $52 million in assumed project financing debt, and will add 10 wind-and four solar-power sites with the acquisition, the Edmonton, Alberta-based company said in a statement Dec. 4. The deal is expected to close by the end of the year.

Aqua America Expanding Indiana Services With Public-Private Deal

The Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania-based company also said it’s completed the sale of drinking-water assets to Fort Wayne for $67 million, according to an e-mailed statement. The utility said the sale by its Indiana subsidiary provides Aqua America with $50.1 million in cash to invest in infrastructure, with the gain on the sale to be reported in fourth-quarter results.

Abengoa Gets $90.1 Million Financing for Uruguay Wind Farm

The loan for the 50-megawatt Talas de Maciel plant in the Flores region will be provided by development lender Corp. Andina de Fomento and Norwegian bank DNB ASA, Abengoa said in a statement today. It has allowed the company to repay a $60 million bridge loan for the project early. No more details were available.
