Enel Gets $170 Million Loan for Wind Farm in South Africa

KfW IPEX Bank GmbH, the export finance unit of Germany’s state-owned development lender KfW, provided the loan for Enel to construct the 111-megawatt Gibson Bay wind farm that will comprise 37 turbines of 3 megawatts each, Enel said by e-mail.

Marubeni to Expand Sales of Solar Panels to Japanese Homes

The panels will be supplied by Hanwha Q Cells Co. and JA Solar Holdings, according to a Marubeni spokesman, and marketed to house builders and construction companies. Marubeni and Zep Solar Inc. signed a sole distributorship agreement last year for Zep’s mounting systems in Japan.

Cheap Oil Unlikely to Slow Growth of Renewables, Citigroup Says

Oil generates about 5 percent of global electricity and doesn’t generally compete directly with wind and solar power, Citigroup researchers wrote in a report Monday. Only 11 countries get more than 20 percent of their electricity from oil, mainly in the Middle East and the Caribbean.

Bluefield Buys U.K. Solar Power Plant for 57 Million Pounds

The solar farm has a capacity of 49.9 megawatts, Bluefield said Monday in an e-mailed statement. The acquisition takes the fund’s combined capacity to more than 250 megawatts.

SolarCity to Hire 300 Workers to Expand U.S. Sales Efforts

The new employees will work at an office in Roseville, California, that was officially opened Friday, according to a statement on the company’s website. Most of SolarCity’s national inside sales team will be based at the site, where the company is consolidating workers from five other facilities in the area.

The fund is issuing an additional 32.5 million new shares on top of the 62.5 million it originally offered after demand “significantly exceeded” expectations, it said in a statement Friday. The shares will be priced at 102.25 pence apiece, taking expected proceeds to 102.25 million pounds, it said.

Aozora, Other Banks to Provide Loan for 14MW Japan Solar Park

Three regional banks -- the Daishi Bank Ltd., the Taiko Bank Ltd., and the Hokuetsu Bank Ltd. -- will join Aozora for the funding of the plant under construction in Niigata prefecture, the banks said in a statement Thursday. No financial terms were disclosed.

SolarEdge Surges in Trading Debut as IPO Raises $126 Million

SolarEdge jumped 15 percent to $20.70 at the close in New York, after pricing 7 million shares at $18. The company is trading on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker SEDG.
