Energy Transition
BloombergNEF (BNEF) is pleased to host BNEF Forum Tokyo 2026 on Sept.16, 2026.
The global energy transition continues to expand, but it is entering a new phase. Rapid growth in power demand driven by artificial intelligence and data centers, a rising focus on energy security, supply-chain realignment and growing geopolitical risks are reshaping energy markets and investment decisions. Companies and governments are being asked to pursue realistic low-carbon transition strategies while balancing industrial competitiveness, economic security and energy cost stability.
These global shifts are also affecting the business strategies and investment decisions of Japanese companies. As Japan advances implementation of its Green Transformation (GX) policy and 2040 energy strategy, companies need to distinguish between technologies that are already scaling and those that continue to face deployment challenges. As the environment surrounding the energy transition evolves rapidly, which areas should Japanese companies prioritize, and how can they capture the next growth opportunities?
At this forum, BNEF will examine the implication of global changes for Japan from multiple perspectives, drawing on BNEF’s global long-term energy outlook as well as insights from the Japan Long-Term Energy Outlook, which is scheduled for release in conjunction with the forum. Together with leaders from the energy, industry, finance and policy sectors, we will discuss the issues and growth opportunities that Japanese companies should consider in the years ahead.
BNEF Forum Tokyo has been held annually since 2021, focusing on Japan’s energy transition and its implementation. This year marks the forum’s fifth edition.
Program details and speaker information will be updated in due course. The forum is by invitation only, and registration will close once capacity is reached. We encourage you to register early.
