Global Gas and LNG Outlook

BloombergNEF’s Global Gas and LNG seasonal outlooks are market fundamentals-based forecasts for global LNG, as well as the European, Asian and US gas markets. Explore the latest trends in our 2026 editions.

Europe gas

European gas demand is expected to gradually decline over the next decade as renewables expand their share of the power mix. At the same time, falling domestic production will increase Europe’s reliance on LNG imports, leaving the region more exposed to global gas market dynamics and underscoring the need for a diversified supply portfolio.

Asian markets

Asia’s gas market is entering a new phase as record LNG supply growth lowers prices and reshapes demand across the region. While mainland China remains the largest LNG market, demand growth is increasingly shifting toward South and Southeast Asia as industrial fuel switching, expanding gas-fired power generation and declining domestic gas production support imports. At the same time, Japan and South Korea face structural changes from nuclear, coal and renewable developments.

US gas

US feedgas demand for LNG exports is projected to double by 2035. Combined with rapidly growing power demand from data centers, this could shift the US gas market from a supply surplus to a deficit as early as 2028, requiring both US gas prices and the global LNG market to adjust.
