Energy Transition and Industrial Competitiveness

As Indonesia works to become a high-income country by 2045, it has a unique combination of advantages: abundant natural resources, an ambitious industrial strategy and decades of foreign investment.

The energy transition could accelerate that ambition, positioning the country to evolve from a commodity exporter to a hub for low-carbon manufacturing, spanning electric vehicles, renewable energy and biofuels. Yet the path ahead is far from straightforward. Rising trade barriers, geopolitical uncertainty, elevated energy prices and Indonesia’s continued reliance on coal will all shape the pace and direction of its transition.

This year’s Forum, an invitation-only gathering of senior leaders, features presentations and executive discussions exploring questions such as:

  • How are Indonesian companies investing in the country’s low-carbon transformation?
  • Where in the clean energy value chain is Indonesia best positioned to become a global leader?
  • Are carbon markets an accelerant or a hindrance to Indonesia’s economic growth?
  • How are geopolitical tensions and the growing focus on energy security reshaping Indonesia’s energy transition across renewable energy, industry and biofuels?

This is an invitation-only event, with priority given to BNEF clients.
