(Bloomberg) — Berkshire Hathaway Inc.’s renewable-energy
unit is buying 200 turbines from Vestas Wind Systems A/S, the
world’s biggest supplier, for a project in Nebraska.
The 2-megawatt units will begin to be delivered in the
second quarter of 2016, and the Grande Prairie wind farm is
expected to be operational in the fourth quarter, the Aarhus,
Denmark-based manufacturer said Thursday in a statement. The
order includes a five-year service agreement. Terms weren’t
disclosed.
Berkshire bought the project from Edina, Minnesota-based
Geronimo Energy and is investing “hundreds of millions of
dollars” in the wind farm, according to a report on Thursday in
the Berkshire-owned Omaha World-Herald.
