Brazil Wind Projects Get $253 Million From Development Bank

(Bloomberg) — Brazil’s development bank approved 773.2
million reais ($253 million) in loans for 10 wind projects in
two states.

The wind farms in the northeastern states of Piaui and
Bahia will have a combined capacity of 264.4 megawatts, the
lender, known as BNDES, said in a statement today. Investment in
the projects will total 1.2 billion reais.

The biggest loan announced today is for a 210-megawatt
project from Brazilian developer Casa dos Ventos in Piaui, which
received 621.2 million reais.

BNDES is also lending 152 million reais to Grupo Rio Energy
for the Caetite wind complex in Bahia, with a total capacity of
54.4 megawatts.
