(Bloomberg) — ET Solar Group Corp., a closely held Chinese
panel maker, and information-technology distributor TechAccess
have agreed to build two solar power plants in Pakistan with a
combined capacity of 21.5 megawatts.
One of the stations in Pind Dadan Khan, Punjab, will
produce about 11.5 megawatts, and the other will have 10
megawatts of capacity, Nanjing-based ET Solar said Monday in a
statement. The projects are expected to be completed and
connected to the grid in the first half of next year.
Pakistan’s Alternative Energy Development Board last year
called for 50 megawatts of solar power. The projects announced
Monday are among the first approved under regulations that seek
to spur energy development in a nation where most citizens in
villages don’t have electricity.
TechAccess will own a majority stake in the solar farms,
Chief Executive Officer Shomail Ghalib said in the statement.
